Jack Storms, while also having a badass name, makes beautiful cold glass geometric sculptures. One of the few people who has this ability to grind out these beautiful geometric pieces. Each piece takes about 8 to 18 weeks to produce by cutting and splicing dichroic glass along with a shit-ton of grinding.

i destroyed an old digital camera and there was a tiny piece of this kind of glass inside i think….it’s kind of …nu-magic.

Just making some Silmarils, nbd

Ash:  Are the spikes so that Melkor doesn’t get pigeons on his fortress?

Wesley: Yes. Spies of Manwë.

Ash: No pigeon poop on Angband.

Wesley: Not pigeons, tho. Eagles. We don’t want Eagles pooping on Angband.

Ash: No eagles or pigeons.

Wesley: Only bats.

Ash: Yes.

Wesley: Spikes on top, treats on the bottom.

Ash: Little handlebars. Batty swings.

Wesley: Blood-feeders.

Ash: Yes

Wesley: Yes

And so it began …

Ilúvatar: *thinks*
Ainur: *are created*
Ilúvatar: .. oh. Neat. Do a music.
Ainur: *makes music*
Ilúvatar: Awesome – hey, what’s that one doing.
Melkor: DOO-DE-DOO-DOO
Ilúvatar: He’s ruining the mus—-
Melkor: DUNNA-DUNNA-DUN-DUN-DUN.
Ilúvatar: Okay, just because you have more power than everyone else does not mean you get to be a dick.
Melkor: 2 metal 4 u
Ilúvatar: I did not create you for this.
Melkor: Suck it, dork.
Ilúvatar: Stop it.
Melkor: Sorry. (Not actually sorry)

In my head Melkor’s “dun-dunna-dun” was the same as the one from Annaconda

Palette Meme: The Iron Hell– RivkaZ 2015

 *wheeeeze* DONE.  _(:p 」∠)_

This is what I picture Angband looking like from the top-down. Most of the fortress is subterranean, making this not even the upper most third of the map. Near the top of the center spire is where you will find Hurin’s chair. (Other above-ground structures that didn’t make it into the picture:  Dragon hatchery and stable, Maethros’s shackle, and secret passage ways.)

I want my Angband to look like it was a solid, fugly square brick of a fortress that has been retrofitted with spare Utumno-parts and upgraded to suit all Melkor’s Beleriand-Conquering needs.

It’s a mix of designs: impossibly grand scaled pseudo-gothic architecture (to let you know that a Vala lives there), with battlements that are still the old no-frills anti-Oromë defense system left over from the Utumno days, all stuck in a blender with a bunch of lopsided spikes and melty Giger-esque doom.

Sauron provided the architecture and floor plan (complete with indoor plumming and practical considerations like “where do we put all the orcs”), and Melkor provided the asymmetry, the underground caverns, and the carelessly assembled volcanic hellscape.

There’s been a wealth of amazing female-centric and femslash fics recently, and since it’s still Femslash February, here are some recs that should all be showered in love. If you like these fics, please take a moment to let the authors know.

Outside History by Wheelrider
Haleth/OFC, Teens. Quite dark, as it deals with the passage through Nan Dungortheb, but beautifully written and characterized, and all I could have asked for in a gift!

And I Would Be the Moon by Tallulah
Erendis/OFC, Mature. After breaking with Aldarion, Erendis falls in love again. I’m still in awe of this story, because it integrates into canon beautifully, and manages to be poetic and no-nonsense at once.

Whatever We Lose by Solanaceae
Idril/Nimloth, Teens, AU. Idril and Nimloth, who couldn’t be more different, meet at the Havens of Sirion. Consistently amazing characterization that doesn’t flinch from the darker sides of their survival, with prose and imagery that I’d like to be able to write up.

A Thousand Years Above Her by Zeen
Gen. Lalwen returns to life. Which really doesn’t do this story justice. This one actually made me go teary-eyed in the best possible way – Lalwen and Indis’ relationship is a gem.

The Sunlight on Her Skin by ncfan
Elenwe/Arien, AU. Elenwe lives, and remembers her lover. I adore this ficlet because it’s such a unique pairing, and beautifully written at that.

Star-Kissed by Rhapsody
Éowyn/Surpise, Mature. Before her marriage to Faramir, Éowyn discovers an old Gondorian tradition. I can’t say much to keep from spoiling this fic, but trust my blatant fangirling of Rhapsody as an indicator of quality. 😀

Of this Earth by Anonymous (Unrevealed)
Gen. Arwen and Éowyn bond on a ride together. A delightful character study that felt very in-tone with canon.

Fallen Through the Cracks by Himring
Gen, crackfic taken seriously, crossover, and it’s glorious. Here’s to the perfect solution to Tolkien’s missing ladies!

The emissary came from the West, and distrust preceded him.

The elves of Eriador had lived through the wars of Beleriand— where, they asked, had this stranger been during that time? Who were his kin? What had been his alignment in the politics of the old world? What place, they asked, did a Vanya have, amid the flotsam of a sunken continent?

“He speaks silvered words, and spreads clean hands, offering to advise the Noldor in their own craft.”  Read the missive from the High King. “This self-styled lord Annatar is both over-confident and over-humble! Late to our struggles and to the realm; an outrageous dandy with outrageous claims. Nothing could be more irritating. Be cautious, cousin. The Valar have given us gifts enough already.”

This chilly reception was slow in thawing, and Celebrimbor received the outcast from Lindon with blunt manners and little patience. Annatar was invited to stay in the court of Ost-in-Edhil, if only so he could be better scrutinized.
