Silver Bloom– Silence (Boris Benko)
We- We were so vain
Wretched kings
of the room
You- You were different
So detached
So immune
You turned our dirt
into a silver bloom

I was merely a moth
taken by your light
A shadow chained to your feet
A parasite
Words became treacherous
Thoughts were out of tune
You’re a powerful drug,
Silver Bloom

You- You were different
It was clear
from the start
Your smile
Your dark grace
The kind features
of your face
They are the map
of your heart

Melkor Voice Claims

misbehavingmaiar:

Melkor’s voice is difficult to pin down. In my head, he sounds quite effeminate and raspy, in a range that I’d describe as being between a high voice in the typical male vocal range, and a low voice in the typical female range…. which is a regrettably binary and cissexist way of putting it, I realize.
He’s a genderfluid primordial entity who rocked too hard and blew out Heaven’s speakers and was kicked out of the choir; it’s hard to pick one discreet human voice that covers all his bases.
To make matters more difficult, his voice changes over the arc of his story. It starts out mellifluous and smooth, and ends up harsh and ragged, a real smokes-and-whiskey kind of voice.

Really, the best I can do is point to a few vocal references and say “that sounds like Melkor to me”, and hope you can find the average of them.

The typical Melkor-fodder for me includes really thrashed, gritty female vocals, and melodic, tremulous male vocals. And some stuff that just feels right.

Speaking Voice/s: Liam O’Brien as his lilting, catty self
Castlevania’s Isaac

And post Lammoth-scream Voice: the same but rustier, more gravely.

This then, as it may appear, was my father’s final view of the question: Orcs were bred from Men, and if ‘the conception in mind of the Orcs may go far back into the night of Melkor’s thought’ it was Sauron who, during the ages of Melkor’s captivity in Aman, brought into being the black armies that were available to his Master when he returned.

He’s a genderfluid primordial entity who rocked too hard and blew out Heaven’s speakers and was kicked out of the choir. And to make matters more difficult, his voice changes over the arc of his story. It starts out mellifluous and smooth, and ends up harsh and ragged after the scream of Lammoth.

Melkor’s gender, size, and body shape all change with his mood, and so does his voice. I can’t point to one discreet human voice that covers all his bases, so the best I can do is present you with a selection of vocal references and say “that sounds like Melkor to me”, and hope you can find the average of them.

Speaking Voice:
In my head, his speaking voice sounds like a rusty hinge of indeterminate gender, excessive volume, and enough shade to plunge Arda into everlasting night.

things finarfin likes: long walks on the beach; lotion that smells like vanilla and has a little gold dust in it; vanyarin throat singing; peace and quiet; yoga; pineapple; slam dunking the headless remains of his enemies into the everlasting dark; being fashionably late

things finarfin dislikes: seafood (unfortunate irt marital situation); noldorin opera; having to come up with the least stressful seating arrangement for family dinners
