You needn’t remind me; I spend every hour of my existence easing the pain it has brought me, wishing I did not need these lights, an elven-made crutch, to make the misery bearable.
…But I do not begrudge my lieutenant his ability to change. Sometimes, I find comfort in watching him and his brethren refashion themselves as the mood takes them.
What and where I spent my power gives me few regrets. I would not take back the deeds that gave birth to new creatures, or that gave me influence over that which is mine by right: the matter of Arda… It is the injustice of having to spend myself, in order to achieve by force that which ought to have been considered in the Music itself, that fuels my bitterness.
I would not take any of it back– though perhaps I could, if I so wished. Yet I cannot allow myself to consider reversal an option, after all that I have suffered. I will give nothing back. I will repent nothing.
I think the best meta description I have comes from this post:
“In WesleyVerse, all Maiar are given their original bodies by the Vala they chose to serve. The body is crafted, then given the sacred fire/life by Eru, and then filled with the unique consciousness that was drawn down out of the collective consciousness I call the Sea of Maiar, which exists in the Halls of Eru. This is my compromise between the Silmarillion canon, and an idea from the early drafts where the Valar behave much more like the Aesir, and the maiar are their physical children.”
And there’s a brief description of it on this comic page, which I’ll transcribe here because fuck that is a bad font, what was I thinking:
“In the time after the First Music, the choir of Ainur came down to Arda so they might shape it according to their vision in the Halls of Eru– a vision I recall now only dimly.
For the Valar are they who knelt at the feet of the One, and knew Him, and knew themselves. But we Maiar thought and felt together, a sea of being. We had no discrete self, no will of our own.
That is why we call each other ‘Cousin’ or ‘Brother’, according to our caste, while a Vala is always ‘Master’ or ‘Father’.
“There are two mirrors of abstraction between a Maia and his function: All we know of our purpose comes from the Valar, and the Valar’s knowledge comes from Eru.
Good and evil were taught us not by example, but by what brought joy or anger to our Makers– and that is true of all the Ainur. Only the One knows the truth of all things, for He is the stem of of truth; or so we must imagine, if we are to trust in His designs…
And I did. I was a good, and admirable Maia. My happiness was untroubled in the lee of Aulë’s faith. Not a ripple of doubt tested me.”
Though of immensely smaller native power than his Master, he remained less corrupt, cooler and more capable of calculation. At least in the Elder Days, and before he was bereft of his lord and fell into the folly of imitating him, and endeavouring to become himself supreme Lord of Middle-earth. While Morgoth still stood, Sauron did not seek his own supremacy, but worked and schemed for another, desiring the triumph of Melkor, whom in the beginning he had adored.
He thus was often able to achieve things, first conceived by Melkor, which his master did not or could not complete in the furious haste of his malice.
When should I pay you?: As soon as –I contact you– telling you I’m starting your order! Please don’t send anything before then, I don’t want to have to refund payments for things I can’t do. :U

It’s a bit late in the day to be posting this, I realize; I’ll make a formal post about it tomorrow morning, but for now I just wanted to get the word out that I’ll be opening commissions for character icons/reaction images. They’ll be around $5-$7 each, line art or colored, head shots, with any expression or angle desired.
If that’s something you’re interested in getting then let me know! 🙂
Firstly, I would like to know who thou art to be demanding answers of me. Which power does my lady serve and who might her nephew be? I would remember a half-maia under my knife if I’d had one.
@crocordile !!!!!!!! I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!! <3<3<3<3<3 :’D
