Sauron, this is a bit out of the blue but what would you say if I told you your friend in the sea had a child?

So I had heard. Forgive me for not offering my congratulations sooner; I know this has long been a dream of my “friend in the sea”, as you put it.
There have been few children born of Maiar, but they have all left their mark on history. I wish them well– though I note I was not invited to their naming or presentation, or I would have already given them a gift.

Timelapse view of lava moving on the plains near Pu’u O’o, Hawaii. The hill in the distance is called the “Pali”, it is the mark of a large normal fault created by part of the island sliding out towards the sea. Lava cascades over the Pali on its way to the ocean during the eruption. This is substantially sped up from how fast Pahoehoe lava typically flows.

Happy Birthday, @lucifers-cuvette. Don’t usually do birthday greetings here, but wanted to share this picture and a poem this cruel winter morning.

Aw, thanks so much, @heartofoshun, for the illustration (dark-haired Annatar – YES!!!) and for kindly reccing my mo(u)ldering fan fic.* Ozymandias has long resonated with the DM and me. This (and a number of other greetings elsewhere) were bright spots in an otherwise stressful day. I’m overloaded with work lately. Hopefully it will let up again in a few weeks. The DM snidely reminds me: “No rest (or fan fic writing) for the wicked and ambitious.”

* I haven’t given up on the notion of returning to writing ficcish stuff.
