The York Anglo-Saxon Helmet, The Riverside Arts Centre Museum, Nottingham, 6.1.18.

Created around 750 to 775 CE, this Anglo-Saxon helmet is inscribed with Latin across the top and features the name of the helmet’s owner ‘Oshere’ above the nose guard. It is likely that the translation reads ‘Warrior of the Royal House of Os’, linking it to a royal family in northern England.

Irimë was a Noldorin elf, the daughter of Finwë, the High King of the Ñoldor and Indis; sister of Fingolfin, Finarfin, Findis, and half-sister of Fëanor.
Irimë was born during the Noontide of Valinor, probably in Tirion. She was the third child of Finwë and Indis and their second daughter. Little is known about her except that she joined the Revolt of the Ñoldor and went to Middle-earth with Fingolfin and his company.
Irimë’s fate is unknown but she may have been slain in one of the Battles of Beleriand, or returned to Aman after the War of Wrath.

It is the main ingredient of the makeup called kohl, used as eye shadow throughout the world in antiquity and was also used in ancient Egyptian medicines.
