Aulë and Melkor both claim it was their idea and eons later the dispute is still unsettled. (”I MADE ROCKS!” “YEAH BUT I MADE VOLCANOES!” “ROCKS!” “VOLCANOES!’ “ROCKS! “VOLCANOES!”)

Further headcanon that one time Maedhros snapped at a sculptor who was making a statue of him that had no scars and a perfect unbroken nose and two hands (even though the statue was supposed to be of him as lord of Himring) because it made him really uncomfortable. He basically terrified the sculptor into making it more realistic.

I’ll take it

fiindekano:

I’ve had this headcanon for a while now that elf women don’t use patrilineal surnames like the guys do. Consider for a moment: Aredhel Anairiel instead of Aredhel Fingolfiniel, Galadriel Eärweniel instead of Galadriel Finarfiniel. Idril Elenwiel and Elwing Nimlothiel. Really, they should be just as proud to use these names as they would to use their fathers’, if not more so. Who’s with me?
