Achavanich Stone Complex, Achavanich, The Highlands, Scotland, 18.8.18.
This unique ‘u shaped’ stone complex has standing stones distinctly positioned so that they fan out on one of their narrow edges. The effect is particularly striking when you are in the centre of the space. The stones have a relationship with the large collapsed cairn nearby.
Described as a dagger for ‘esoteric rituals’ the dagger features a straight, double-edged blade with a triple fuller, engraved with floral motifs. The bronze hilt is depicting Death wrapped in a mantle and a snake on the quillon. The wooden scabbard is covered in brown velvet with brass mounts decorated with bas-relieved floral motifs.
