“Fiercest burned the new flame of desire for freedom and wider realms in the eager heart of Fëanor; and Melkor laughed in his secrecy, for to that mark his lies had been addressed, hating Fëanor above all, and lusting ever for the Silmarils.” ~ The Silmarillion, Of the Silmarils and the Unrest of the Noldor. Happy Birthday for me- here is a new song for y’all. It’s a super rough version of an original setting of another J. R. R. Tolkien poem someone asked me to do. Like Kortirion Among the Trees, it’s incredibly long and wordy and the number of lines in each stanza changes, so it sort of stumbles in places- sorry!
Oh hey, it’s been a little bit– Here are 3 of my Silmarillion inspired Inktober 2017 pieces to make up for it, though 😘
Eöl forging Anguirel and being a grump, grump. (“Sword”)
Fëanor asking Galadriel for hair and becoming “Unfriends forever” (“Divide”)
And a digitally colored version of Ancalagon the Black… uh…. laughing at a joke Eãrendil said on Vingilot (“Gigantic”)
The 14th century Gothic cloister of the Porto cathedral was decorated with azulejos between 1729 and 1731. The scenic tiles depict the life of the Virgin Mary and Ovid’s Metamorphoses.
