A capella Maire: a bit of L Del Rey’s “The Blackest Day.”
For Doegred. Admit it. You love it when I tease you.
The Noldo’s eyes might be shining with a coldly dangerous light, but he listens in perfect silence, his very breaths hitching with the rhythm of the Maia’s voice.
The song makes the air billow, still the Noldo stands unmoved, like the rock parting a stream’s waters.

For the Yule festivities, I present to you: Sauron singing Greensleeves.

Time for the yearly reblogging of caroling dark lords!
From Garmarna’s official website:
A poem written in south-saami, one of the languages spoken by the Saami-people in the northern parts of Scandinavia and Russia. It is written by Cecilia Persson, a south-saami actress and friend of ours, and is inspired by an actual event, where leaf-eating grubs turned a whole river valley into a complete wasteland. Ironically, the valley was to be devastated a few months later anyway, by the building of a enormous dam. It’s as if nature herself felt what was going to happen and decided to take things into her own hands.

There are so many caterpillers
Hunger, greater now than ever
The trees hold their breath, die and fall
Man is like a blinded wolf
Hunger is all I feel
Hunger everywhereWhat a pleasant surprise on my dash! ❤ Songs that remind me of Ungoliant. ❤
Garmarna – Brun
translation by Alistair Cochrane:
Brun (The Robber)
Brun rides off to the maiden's home - Brun sleeps all alone - Before him the maiden stands alone - The howling wind and rainstorms lash the northern mountains Three northerners lie dead there - His mantle of blue Brun spreads so wide, Lifts up the maiden, and away he rides. And Brun rides many a weary mile Until he longs to rest for a while. "Now hear me, maiden, I'll tell you plain: Fifteen maids in this place I have slain." And Brun lay down with that maiden fair, Till sweet sleep overcame him there. Her braids of gold the maiden unties And binds Brun hand and foot where he lies. "Rise up now, Brun, as quick as you can, For I never will slay a sleeping man." Her knife of gold she takes in her hand And stabs young Brun to the quick where he stands. "Lie there till the ravens and dogs have their fill, And my maiden's virtue will be with me still. "Lie there, lie there on the ground so cold, - Brun lies all alone - And still I will keep my maiden's gold." - The howling wind and rainstorms lash the northern mountains Three northerners lie dead there -
I tried to reproduce the Black Speech dialogue between Azog
the Sexythe Defiler and the Necromancer of Dol Guldur. But since my voice is neither a batch of cumber nor a manu of bennett is sounds kinda weird. Forgive my pronunciation mistakes, most of it is taken by ear.
theotherwesley probably wants to hear this, idk
Always reblog Lumbuthai
Wesley Reads “Carrion Comfort”, by Gerard Manley Hopkins
While I was flipping around for Hymn to Proserpina, I accidentally fell in love with this poem in passing, so I read it also. XD It’s much shorter, and I didn’t whisper through it this time. (My reading voice is so terribly choppy, forgive me!)
Wesley Reads “Hymn to Proserpina” by Charles Swinburne
My half of the trade with beguilingblackness, as promised!
This is a ridonkulously difficult poem to read aloud. The meter is insane. I absolutely did not do it justice and I apologize. It is one of my favorite poems!
This starts out very, very soft and gets a little louder as it goes, but you’ll probably have to crank up the volume to hear me at all in the beginning. XD Sorry for my whisper-voice.
Since theotherwesley and I have this poem-reciting exchange thing going on here is a piece of the Bright Lord verse in my 4:30 AM voice
I am a literal puddle on the floor right now
This is a great way to make Wesley blush like a tomato
This version has much better audio for extra sexy-voice Celebrimbor appreciation
Dude that is so totally Fëanor’s voice
