heres some character sketches of durins ft. me forgetting how markers work and my durin crest design. it is a mountain, the horns are of the goats that live there, and they form a heart over the jewel, making the heart of the mountain. also balin and dwalin!
so the way im mapping it is that fili and kili’s father was not a longbeard but a firebeard, accounting for their skintone and fire-hair and eyes, and balin and dwalin have the same strain somewhere in their bloodline, accounting for dwalin’s eyes and balin’s skintone.

Went to the midnight Hobbit showing with the lad! So many costumes to choose from! I went with “Balrog” over “Bauglir”.
Aaaaah, BoFA…. Like cheap American milk chocolate, 35% yummy substance, 65% waxy filler, but you can’t stop eating it. ( I did enjoy myself– feels were had! Feels of sorrow, delight, lust, orcish pride, shipping, and extreme tea-sipping side-eye at the director.)
