Luthien meeting Melian in birdmonster form for the first time. WIP grey on white because I was doing the underpainting in purples and it made Thingol look like an anemic Drow, which was offputting in the extreme.

I had a bunch of complicated headcanons as to why this came to pass but they became a ficbit which is over here for organizational purposes.

Artwork for @legendariumladiesapril! Melian should get more everything, tbh.

*bangs fists on table* BIRD MAMA BIRD MAMA BIRD MAMA!!!

[Nerdanel]

I wanted to render back muscles and finally settle on tattoo designs for Feener.

I’ve given him Finwë’s heraldry, and also a device I invented for Miriel (based on a flax flower). The black knotwork is an Auldendur thing – you see similar tattoos on Dwarves in Middle Earth – and is awarded to students of Aulë when they achieve mastery in a craft. Mahtan, Nerdanel, and Curufin have similar tattoos (that are perhaps a little less… extensive…….. Fëanor stop getting PhDs). Celebrimbor gets pretty impressive knotwork in a slightly different style from the dwarves of Khazad-dum in the second age.

Momma’s study

A reject for @feanorianweek that I sadly didn’t finish in time… 😛

Everyone talks about all the skills the feanorians got from feanor, but I’ve never heard a single one of you mention maybe one of them being a sculptor.

Here’s my take on that idea: Nerdanel tried to teach every one of her kids, but she met varied levels of success; here are her most recent tries: Tyelcormo (who has decided he’d much better as a muse rather and the sculptor) and Carnistir (who is still confused which tool is supposed to do what)

Love this!

earthstory:

Native silver tree.

Formed in hydrothermal veins by precipitation from hot fluids, native silver forms some beautiful fern and tree like structures.

This specimen of silver wires on acanthite comes from one of the acknowledged best sources on Earth, now exhausted, in the Freiburg district of Saxony in Germany. Other famous locations include Norway, Mexico, Spain and Australia. Specimen size 8×6.
