He turned aside therefore at Sauron’s isle, as they ran northward again, and he took thence the ghastly wolf-hame of Draugluin, and the bat-fell of ThurIngwëthil. She was the messenger of Sauron, and was wont to fly in vampire’s form to Angband; and her greatfingered wings were barbed at each joint’s end with and iron claw. Clad in these dreadful garments Huan and Lúthien ran through Taur-nu-Fuin, and all things fled before them.

I’d love to see your take on dragons- Your human art is so amazing, what would Glaurung, Scatha or Anclagon look like in your style?

Aaaaah thanks so much! :’D

I’m not the world’s greatest dragonologist (drawing People Anatomy is hard enough, Animal Anatomy fills me with dread and existential quivering), BUT it so happens I had an Ancalagon design ready to go from a couple years ago:

…featuring Pern-style compound eyes and hydrogen-sacs. The fact that Ancalagon is the size of a dirigible has forced his biology to go to some extreme lengths to keep him flight-capable; he’s got inflatable sacs of hydrogen to keep him airborne, scaleless skin stretched so thin over his spindly frame that it’s translucent, his ribcage does that freaky thing that gliding snakes and lizards do where it flattens out to give him more lift, and he’s got absolutely no more bones or muscle or organs than were necessary to let him wobble off a tall place and into the air.  Melkor did not breed this poor boy for for longevity– Ancalagon was engineered to get airborne ONCE and rain blue-flamed death on the Valar’s armies until he exhausted himself, broke something, or got caught in a tree like a giant flammable kite. He’s not got the usual armored scales of his brethren, nor their intelligence; no one was expecting to have to deal with a flying, Silmaril-powered boat, so was given no real defenses. No one was expecting him to try and fly home and crash land into Thangorodrim like a thousand tons of wet tissue paper tied to a hydrogen bomb either.

I haven’t done a particularly good job of drawing any of this, but I do like his tiny, tiny little beaky head and fancy frill. :3
